Ingredients
(Fish simmered in a rich coconut gravy)

Boneless chunks of fish ½ kg
Grated coconut 1 (medium size)
Chopped ginger 2 tbsp
Broken cashewnut soaked 50 gm
Chopped green chillies 3
Coconut Milk 100 ml
Chopped Onions 100 gm
Chettinad masala powder ¼ tsp
Oil 30 ml
Mustard seeds ¼ tsp
Cumin (jeera) ¼ tsp
Curry leaves a few
Asafoetida(hing) a pinch
Salt to taste


Method
Grind grated coconut, ginger, cashewnuts and green chillies to a fine paste. Heat Oil. Put in mustard seeds and when they crackle, add jeera, curry leaves and hing. Add chopped onions and sauté till translucent. Add the ground paste and cook till oil separates. Reduce heat, add Chettinad masala, coconut milk and 100 ml water. Simmer for 5 minutes. Place boneless fish pieces in the gravy and soak on a low flame till done. Garnish with chopped coriander, fried whole chillies and serve.
